Legal Advocacy

Legal advocacy is an integral part of the work we do to help empower and prepare clients for temporary restraining orders, court appearances and preparation, referrals. Our legal advocates also partner with our therapeutic team in providing our clients with our A.R.T. toolkit (anxiety reduction techniques), as well as a Cyber safety toolkit, created in partnership with Tevora (headquartered in OC).

Outcomes

In 2024, our Legal Advocacy program provided 6,516 units of services to 763 clients including assessments and consultations, obtaining restraining orders, court document preparation, transportation and support services, monthly legal clinics, and additional legal services referrals. We anticipate serving 775 clients through the legal services program in 2025.

Counseling & Resource Center (Non-Residential)

Offering those who are in need of non-residential assistance offering individual and group counseling, educational workshops case management, social services referrals, housing assistance, and legal advocacy services to receive the necessary support and skills to resolve, educate, empower and heal from the effects of domestic violence. Laura's House uses cutting edge therapeutic techniques such as, EMDR therapy.

Outcomes

In 2024 we provided 741 individuals with a safe space for victims of domestic violence to participate in counseling, and life skills educational workshops. A total of 6,032 service units were provided in 2024 and we anticipate serving 750 individuals in 2025.

Emergency & Transitional Shelter Programs

Providing 45-60 days of shelter, food and clothing, case management, individual and family counseling, life-skills training, and legal and social services advocacy to women and their children who are fleeing family violence and would otherwise become homeless and the Transitional Living Program providing housing and support services for up to 6 months to help them remain independent, maintain economic self-sufficiency and be free of violence.

Outcomes

In 2024 safe shelter was provided to 414 abused women, men, and children, where we were able to assist in breaking their multi-generational cycle of violence and empowering them to live violence-free lives. We anticipate serving 425 individuals in 2025.

Healing through Outreach Prevention & Education

Educating adults and community members, our 40-Hour Domestic Advocate State Certified Training Program (offered 3 times per year), and our Community Engagement program and Speakers’ Bureau.  In response to identifying teen dating violence correlating with domestic violence, our agency designed the Healthy Emotions & Attitudes in Relationships Today (H.E.A.R.T) Program, an interactive workshop program held in schools, detention facilities, community youth facilities to educate youth on teen dating and domestic violence issues and provide tools for them to build healthy relationship skills to end the multi-generational cycle of violence.

Outcomes

Our H.O.P.E department has provided outreach and education services to the general public to increase awareness and knowledge of domestic violence and information on available resource for intervention. Our Prevention and Education program, Healthy Emotions and Attitudes in Relationships Today (H.E.A.R.T.) continues to grow, with the goal of making our curriculum and programming accessible to administrators all over the world. In 2024 H.O.P.E. reached 30,667 individuals and we anticipate reaching 32,650 in 2025.

24-Hour Crisis Hotline

Providing immediate crisis intervention and assistance to domestic violence victims through 24-hour telephone response. In 2022, 3,439 callers were assisted through 4,752 hotline calls.

Laura's House has operated the 24-Hour Hotline for the last 30 years and has provided crisis intervention, safety planning, resources, information, and referrals to assist Domestic Violence victims in crisis. In 2024, we provided crisis intervention to 3,077 individuals through 3,987 calls. We anticipate serving 3,257 callers through 4,227 calls.
