PROGRAMS

Rehabilitation and Release

OCBPC believes that a life in the wild bird is preferable to a life in captivity. We provide each injured bird the opportunity to resume life in the wild. We believe raptors play an integral role in the balance of nature. State and federal laws help protect this balance. We reintroduce raptors under specific conditions: following state and federal guidelines, respecting current wild raptor population cycles, and considering environmental factors.

Budget
$300,000
Outcomes

Rehabilitate and release a significant percentage of all injured and sick raptors entering the facility.  The more raptors we return to the wild, the greater the genetic diversity of each species, which aids long-term survival.

Education

OCBPC believes most raptor injuries are prevented through education. We involve thousands of people each year, with programs including non-releasable raptors at schools, civic groups, county and state parks, nature exhibits and television programs. The public participates in the release of these birds into the wild through our sponsorship program. Technology facilitates the education of a larger population of individuals about raptors.

Budget
$50,000
Outcomes

To increase our education presentations each year while maintaining affordability for local schools.
