Financial Wellness Counseling (FWC) Program
Military and Veteran families in crisis work one-on-one with our professional Social Workers, who are certified in financial counseling, to create a personalized financial plan. When necessary to prevent the loss of a family's critical basic need, STEP provides financial assistance in the form of a funds paid directly to the third-party creditor (this is never a loan and does not require repayment).
As a result of participating in STEP's Financial Wellness Counseling (FWC) Program:
- more than 85% of our clients increase their financial well-being, based on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's scale;
- 87% of our clients report during their follow-ups that they are on track with their personal financial goals; and
- 96% of our clients do not return for an additional financial assistance grant.
