TGR Foundation – STEAM Education and College and Career Readiness Programs
TGR Foundation delivers award-winning STEAM curricula, college access and support programs, and educator professional learning, as part of our mission to empower students to pursue their potential through education and envision a world where opportunity is universal and potential is limitless. We provide underserved students with the tools and support needed to thrive in school, their communities, and the working world. The flagship TGR Learning Lab opened in 2006 in Anaheim, California as a safe space for underserved youth to explore their dreams. The technology-rich campus provides STEM, college access, career exploration, and workforce development programs at no cost to upper elementary, middle and high school youth from under-resourced communities annually. At 35,000 square ft, this campus is equipped to not only deliver award-winning STEAM programs to thousands of youth and educators but also to serve as an innovation hub to develop, test, and refine new curricula, putting TGR Foundation at the forefront of innovative STEAM learning in our community. Earl Woods Scholarship Program targets low-income, first-generation college students in Orange County, CA, Los Angeles, CA and Washington, DC. High school students who have demonstrated academic excellence, commitment to community service, and financial need are eligible to apply to the program in their junior year. Through our intensive, year-round approach, we work with scholars for 4-6 years through college graduation, providing academic and career support services, internships, scholarships and workplace skill-building opportunities through college and career readiness workshops, one-on-one coaching and mentorship. Educator professional development empowers educators through week-long, day-long, and half-day professional learning trainings offered at no cost to K-12 educators. Each training centers around building educators’ confidence, skills and inquiry practices in STEM teaching methods and content delivery strategies that spark student interests and increase their engagement. At each training, we teach educators about best practices in STEAM education – such as delivering hands-on, collaborative, and inquiry-based teaching methods – and provide examples of how to infuse such practices into their current classroom curricula. We allow educators to discover the benefits of such methods first-hand, by participating in student activities that they can take back to their classrooms, and by practicing these strategies and receiving feedback from their peers. Finally, we provide educators with access to low and no-cost resources and lesson plans aligned to these best practices.
Since its launch in 1996, TGR Foundation has impacted more than 200,000 students.
