Serving People In Need
OUR STORY
SPIN was founded in 1987 by Sam Boyce. Concerned about the growing population of unhoused in his community, and the challenges and lack of services they faced, he was determined to make an impact. He and a small group of friends delivered meals to the homeless on the streets for two years. Through this he learned some of the root causes, including high rents, the rising costs of basic needs, and challenging disabling conditions. Mr. Boyce decided to form a nonprofit to address these needs, SPIN, in 1989. Two years later, in 1991, SPIN launched two main housing programs, accompanied by extensive support services and case management designed to address the common factors faced by unhoused families and individuals.
Serving People In Need has a long and storied history of helping to stabilize families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness. Our case managers and staff take care to understand need, and provide guidance and referrals to create the greatest likelihood for long term success. Every family deserves a safe and stable place to call home.
